Welcome to my blog
Today I tweeted on Twitter a request for comments and information regarding the influence that Morris has had on designers of today. I would be really grateful if you could comment if this topic is of interest to you or if you are a designer that has been influenced my William Morris. Whether it is your use in natural dyes or printing methods. I am keeping this blog as part of my research methodology for my Masters in Fashion & Textiles so all information will be public and I will respond to your comments daily. Thank you
I also researched the information on the following websites and followed other organisations who dedicate their time to the life of Morris.
These include:
William Morris Society - The Society that promotes all aspects of the life and work of Morris. (An e-mail has also been sent requesting a visit to the Reading Room where further research can be carried out when it re-opens in 2016).
Merton Abbey Mills - The Mill that manufactered the textiles of Morris & Co. I plan to visit in 2016 and talk about the processes the mill used when William Morris moved his textile design and printing company to the site.
Kelmscott Manor - The largest antiquarian library in the UK. I am looking forward to visiting to further my research. I hope to be looking at mauscripts, archives, paintings and drawings by Morris.
V&A Museum - The Victoria and Albert Museum is the world's greatest museum of art and design and holds Morris's wallpaper, fabrics and tapestries. I will be revisiting the museum and hopfully the archives in 2016.
William Morris Gallery - A public gallery devoted to Morris. Committed to supporting research into the life, work and influence. I will be revisiting the Gallery and talking to them about the work they do.
