MA Research - Seeing through Morris's Eyes
Willow bough upholstery fabric (Morris, 1887)
Willow Bough repeat pattern designed by Morris after being inspired by the willow at Kelmscott. The pattern has a sense of movement and depth to it.
Interesting videos regarding Morris's stay at Kelmscott Manor. The Society of Antiquaries (Accredited Museum) website discusses Morris's life at Kelmscott and the inspiration he gained from the gardens there, especially the hedgerows which inspired his imagination which transpired through to his designs. It goes on the talk in detail about his repeat patterns for textiles. I plan to visit this house in 2016 as part of my primary research.
