Poiret as muse collection. Fashion is a continual source of inspiration for the Weitzner studio, and this season they drew from the designs of twentieth century French fashion designer, Paul Poiret. Known for introducing the modern silhouette that liberated women from their corsets in the 1920s, Poiret imbued his clothes with a theatrical flair and a keen use of pattern and textile techniques.
Expanding on Weitzner’s signature style, they have translated the whimsy and worldliness of Poiret’s oeurve into a range of materials and constructions. This season’s offerings include sumptuous, couture-inspired textiles, as well as new introductions of Weitzner Indoor/Outdoor fabrics. Colours: Brown, gold, charchoal, greys

Evaluation of work: Rotunda
Using squeeze bottles of colored abaca and salago pulp, Philippines-based artisans create the textural circles of Rotunda. Very thick paint applied. I received a sample of this wallpaper which was highly unusual, nothing I had seen before on a wall covering. Not to my taste but completely unique. I cannot envision The Ratunda wall covering looking attractive on any wall, even if it is handmade and unique, although one thinks of the lifestyle of the people making the product.

Digital printing takes a textural turn in Sylvia. The multi-color damask design is first printed on backing paper, then laminated with a sheer polyester overlay. Again, not to my taste. Based on vintage marble paper, Nouveau’s fine detail is rendered on a high-density nylon warp with cotton and silk wefts.
The wallpaper sample I received is luxurious and a very different texture to any other wallpaper I have felt before. I can image this looking beautiful in a 5* hotel. Innovative wallpapers using a variety of treatments and textures. Simple mark making on the Corsica range.
